Step by Step

Last night Addie just took off walking. She was walking all over the house. Of course, she would topple, but she would get right back up and go again. You may notice a goose egg on Addie's forehead over her right eye. One of the hazards of learning to walk - hard falls. It's weird to see my baby walking but also very exciting! Bob and I are in trouble now! Yay for Addie!

13 Months

Monday, November 15, 2010

Another month has come and gone in the life of our little Addie. I still feel the need to record Addie's monthly developments, as she is learning and changing so fast. It's hard for me to believe that it has already been a month since Addie's 1st birthday party. Crazy! Anyhow, Addie is learning new words and sounds. She says "hi", "bye", and "uh-oh" and makes dog and cow sounds. She also recognizes cats and usually waves and says "hi" to our neighborhood cats. Addie also says "ba" for both banana and bottle. She tries to copy other words like shoes, cracker, and cheese. On top of that, Addie babbles all kinds of gibberish. Her favorite song right now is "Itsy Bitsy Spider". She can do all the actions and usually laughs when the spider gets washed out. Addie is very friendly and likes to say "hi" to people we pass in the store and puts her arms out to familiar faces at church. Addie is making more and more progress toward full out walking. She can take about six or so steps before she topples. At this point, church, of course, is a struggle. By the last hour, Addie is tired and sick of sitting. Nursery is only 5 months away, right. We recently put a forward-facing carseat in, and Addie thinks it's wonderful. During the first few drives, Addie said "hi" to me about a million times, because she could see me. It was cute! At Addie's 12 month check up on the 29th of October, she measured about 29 inches and weighed 21 lbs which put her roughly in the 75th percentile for height and the 50th percentile for weight. Below are pictures of Addie in all her new outfits.

Halloween

Monday, November 1, 2010

We had a fantastic Halloween! Our festivities began with a "Boo Gram" from a secret friend. At first I assumed it was someone from our neighborhood, as the gram suggested, but I later found out that it was a wonderful friend from the ward. I happily passed it along to two neighbors. I took the opportunity to get creative and scrapped the gift bags. I think that "Boo Grams" are a fun Halloween activity and hope to "Boo" more of our friends and neighbors next year.

Thursday evening we went to the Riverside Zoo's Spooktacular in Scottsbluff. The Spooktacular is an annual fundraiser for the zoo. Hundreds of jack-o-lanterns were on display along the zoo's pathways. Addie seemed to enjoy watching all the kids in costume.

Friday evening we took Addie to Torrington's downtown Trick or Treat. It was packed! After about three blocks, Bob and I called it, and we went to dinner. Very soon we will have to fight the crowds, as Addie will be more involved and insistent on getting candy. Addie did look cute in her dinosaur costume, but what made it even cuter was that Addie would growl and roar when asked, "What does a dinosaur say?"! Bob had been coaching her for the last month.

"Roar!"

Also on Friday, Addie got a fun treat in the mail from Grandma and Grandpa Weber. Thanks again for the surprise.

On Saturday, we went to our ward's Chili Dinner and Trunk or Treat. Bob spent the afternoon carving a second pumpkin, because he was extremely disappointed with how his first pumpkin turned out and wanted a better pumpkin for our trunk. The ward party had a great turnout and was a lot of fun. We'll have to step our game up next year and decorate our trunk more, because there were some really neat trunks. Addie got a chance to actually Trunk or Treat and even roared for some people.

Trunk or Treat
On Halloween evening we had about 60 Trick or Treaters come to our door. A lot of the neighborhood kids know Bob from school and came to our door asking for Mr. Weber. Addie got excited each time the doorbell rang and started crawling to the door to see the kids. We had a much different Halloween than compared to last year, when Addie was only about two weeks old. It's hard to believe all the changes we have gone through since then and it's exciting to think of what is all still yet to come.
