Stinky Toes

Wednesday, May 26, 2010

No one can make Addie laugh like her Daddy can. Last Sunday afternoon, Bob was playing "stinky toes" with Addie, and she thought it was hilarious. I thought it was so darn cute and just had to share. A laughing baby makes almost anybody smile!

Visitors

Last week my Mom and sister, Katie, made a trip to Lingle to visit us. It was so great to have them visit! We kept busy by visiting our great Aunt Doris in Wheatland, planting flowers, and playing with Addie. It was especially nice to have my Mom and sister here while Bob was away in Casper at state track Thursday through Saturday. Bob was the Lingle-Ft. Laramie boys assistant track coach. He coached the pole vault and high jump. Lingle-Ft. Laramie did fairly well at state, with the girls placing second and the boys placing eighth.

My Mom and Katie got to our house on Tuesday afternoon. On Wednesday it was rainy, so we drove over to Wheatland to visit our great Aunt Doris. She is my Grandpa Preuit's older sister. Aunt Doris will be 90 years old in October and still mows her lawn! She lives alone, as her husband passed away 20 years ago. It was nice visiting with Aunt Doris. She shared some childhood stories, and we were able to learn more about Grandpa Preuit. After visiting for several hours, we drove back through Torrington, picked Bob up from track practice and then drove to Scottsbluff to buy perennials flowers.

Thursday morning we discovered a great greenhouse in Torrington and bought annual flowers for my barrels. The weather cleared up by noon, so we went outside to work. My Mom has a green thumb and always has beautiful flowers in her yard. I'm so glad that my Mom and Katie came to help me, because my flower bed would have been ugly without them ;). Addie liked being outside. She sat in her stroller and watched us. We were able to get the job done in about six hours. Katie was the muscles of the operations, digging the holes for the flowers, mowing the weeds in the alley, and pulling out the ugly bushes.

Friday was spent mostly in Scottsbluff shopping. The weather turned windy and we were unable to do any more yard work. My Mom and Katie left Saturday morning at 7:30 AM. Thanks again for coming to visit, Mom and Katie. It was so much fun! We love you, Grandma Bassett and Aunt Katie!

7 Months

Friday, May 14, 2010

Addie is 7 months old today! She's doing great - growing and learning. During the past month, Addie has been rolling and is now starting to creep (pull herself across and in circles on the floor on her tummy). She is eating really well. Of course, she likes fruit much more than veggies, but she still seems to really like sweet potatoes and will also put away squash. I'm making a new batch of baby food, so she'll get to try some new foods. Addie is making all sorts of sounds - ba, ga, da, and such. She is getting close to sitting up by herself. She gets easily distracted by everything around her and loses her balance. We've just started to wean her and so far so good. It will be a slow and hopefully steady process. I've been nervous about the change, but also excited for the "freedom". Addie's personality and her ability to express herself are developing. She growls and grunts at us when she's annoyed and can kind of glare too. But she also laughs more at whatever gets her at the time. The other night Bob was fake sneezing and Addie thought it was hilarious. We're very excited about summer. Addie already has a swimsuit and a little pool. She loves the tub so much that we anticipate her loving splashing in the pool on hot summer days. Also, we're looking forward to spending time with our families. We love our Addie!

Snug as a Bug...

Addie did a funny thing the other day. She was playing and rolling around on the living room floor, and she became very interested in the tied edges of her blanket. I watched as she grabbed the edge and rolled over once. I looked away for only a few minutes and when I looked back, Addie had managed to roll herself up tightly in her blanket. She looked so cute and funny I just had to take pictures. Silly baby!

Addie's High Chair

Monday, May 3, 2010

Now that Addie has been eating solids for about a month and it has become apart of our daily routine, we finally set up her high chair last week. Addie got her fancy high chair from Grandma and Grandpa Weber for Christmas. We love Addie's chair and more importantly, Addie seems to love it too! In just the past few days, Addie has really caught on to the whole eating thing. I need to make a new batch of food, so she can try some new foods.

When Addie is not in her high chair, she's usually on the floor. Addie is rolling and gets where she wants to go. She has been discovering new things around the living room - heater vents, coffee table, couches, and the brick on the fireplace. All the rolling must wear Addie out, because she crashes mid-roll. Ahh, a sleeping baby is always cute!
