15 Months and New & Exciting

Sunday, January 23, 2011

Addie has been 15 months old for over a week now (this post is better late than never, right?). She is a busy toddler trying to work out a balance between her growing desire for independence and her need for attention and reassurance. Addie is constantly underfoot - in the middle of everything. She wants to know what's going on and how she can "help". Addie likes to watch us cook and even says "cooking?". Lately Addie has really liked to play with her trucks saying "vroom, vroom", stacking cups, balls, and of course, books. She likes to make animal noises and has recently learned sheep and pig noises. She is enthralled with her Baby McDonald DVD. Winter time is rough and cabin fever is ever looming and suffocating. Luckily we have a fun playgroup we meet with weekly. As with the last few months, church is a growing battle. Bob and I are on the official countdown with less than 3 months until Addie will be 18 months old and in nursery which is actually only 11 more Sundays. It's fun for us to be able to interact more and more with Addie as she is growing and learning. Her expanding vocabulary and motor skills are amazing - she's not a baby any more. Addie is a happy, friendly little girl who likes attention. Addie truly brings joy and happiness into our lives. We love you, Addie.

There are two new and exciting things in our home - both Christmas gifts. Using gift money from our families, we purchased a new dishwasher. Yay! for clean dishes and no more frustration with dishes coming out dirty or washing before washing. Also, Lindi made me a beautiful picture with the Logan Temple. It looks amazing on my living room wall!

Our Very Merry Christmas

Thursday, January 6, 2011

Our 2010 Christmas was very merry and bright. We partook in a number of festivities and felt the true spirit of the season. We got the bulk of our gift shopping done early, and I'm glad we did. We started our official celebration of the holiday by decorating our home. We put lights on our house for the first time - Bob's a Christmas light pro. Following my Mom's tradition of giving, we made gifts for our friends and neighbors. Before we left for Lovell, we got to open our great gifts from the Weber's.

We arrived in Lovell on the 23rd at about 4:30 pm. We were welcomed by the entire Matt and Tracy Bassett family - we were all together! We started the party off right with our traditional "service project" and pizza dinner. Christmas Eve and Christmas day were wonderful. Addie was spoiled and happily joined in (with lots of help) the gift opening. We truly enjoyed our time with our family. We put a puzzle together (YAY! - it's been 2 years since we last completed a puzzle), played fun games, played with Addie, and watched a movie. Not to mention all the yummy food and desserts.

Our visit was extended by 2 days because of the winter storm across the state. Therefore, we spent New Year's Eve with our family as well. We celebrated with a visit to the Jodee and Donna Bassett family. It's always fun to see their family and catch up. We also went to dinner. Sadly, the parents didn't make it to midnight - party poopers. We were able to get on the road New Year's day and had 2 days to wind down before getting back into the routine. Thanks to all our families for the fantastic Christmas. We love you!
