HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!!!

Sunday, August 31, 2008

On Tuesday, September 2nd, my Dad will be celebrating his 53rd birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!!! I've always felt that I have a special birthday bond with my Dad, because my birthday is the day before his (September 1st). I love birthdays! It's great that everyone has one special day each year. I would like to wish my Dad a happy birthday by telling him how grateful I am for him and that I love him very much. My dad is a fun-loving, hard working man. I appreciate all that he has taught me and continues to teach me.

Our Quick Trip Home

Saturday, August 23, 2008

This past Tuesday through Thursday, Bob and I made a quick trip home to attend Brad Mickelson's funeral. As many of you know, Bob and Mike, Brad's older brother, are best friends, and Bob is close to the Mickelson family. We were happy to be able to be there to support the Mickelson family during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Mickelson's during this hard time, and we hope only the best for them in the days to come. To read more about Brad Mickelson's accident and funeral, read Bassett's Bull! under "Put to Rest".

While we were home, my Dad was busy harvesting barley. My dad is a farmer/rancher. He's a hard worker and has always been a great supporter for my family. My sister, Katie, and I rode along with my Dad on Wednesday afternoon. I am gratful to have spent this time with my Dad and sister. I am proud to be a country girl!

Our 5th Wedding Anniversary

Thursday, August 14, 2008

Believe it or not, Bob and I are celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary today, August 14, 2008. Happily, we are still going strong and more in love than ever. In five years, we have both graduated from the University of Wyoming and are now living in Logan where Bob is attending graduate school and I am working full time. In a year from now, we plan to be settling down and starting a little family hopefully. The past five years have been wonderful for us, and we feel lucky to have each other. I'm excited to see what the next years of our marriage hold for us.

To celebrate our anniversary, I wanted to share wedding pictures of some of my family members. Long live happily married ever after!

Co-Ed Church Softball

Tuesday, August 12, 2008

This summer Bob and I have played on our ward's co-ed softball team. We attend a married student ward and have really enjoyed it. It's nice to be around other couples in a similar stage of life as us. As many of you know, Bob is quite the athlete, and he played t-ball and baseball as a boy. I, on the other hand, didn't play any kind of organized t-ball or softball as a kid. I was too busy riding horses and moving cows on the family ranch. Anyhow, Bob has had to suffer as I have been learning how to play softball. I'm lucky that it was mostly for fun and only semi-competitive. I do get to slightly redeem myself during Women's Church Basketball. All in all, softball was a blast!

Our Outdoor Weekend Adventure

This past weekend we had the opportunity to go camping. Bob had a rare Saturday off, so we wanted to take full advantage of the last part of Summer. Friday night after work, Bob and I made our way up Logan Canyon to find a camping spot. We were lucky to even find an open site. We got settled at about 7:00 PM, and Bob went to fire making. We did the traditional camping things like make s'mores, drink hot chocolate, and play cards. Saturday morning Bob made breakfast - hashbrowns, bacon and scrambled eggs. It tasted better than it may look. I'm happy that we were able to camp at least one night this summer!

Breakfast - The Most Important Meal of the Day!
After packing camp up, we met Aunt Juli and her family at Bear Lake for a full day of water fun. Bear Lake is beautiful! We hardly ever play in the water, so I'm glad that we were able to spend the day at Bear Lake. We were also able to boat. Bob wake boarded, surfed, and knee boarded. I water skied. The down side of spending a day at the lake, at least for us, is the almost inevitable sunburn. Definitely a super fun summer weekend adventure!

All Night Reading Revelry

Tuesday, August 5, 2008

Yeah for Breaking Dawn! This past Saturday at 12:01 AM we celebrated the release of Breaking Dawn, the fourth and final book in the Twilight saga. Me along with Aunt Juli, Juli's two sisters, Jeanette and Janelle, and Juli's cousin, Daya, went to the midnight release party at Borders and then we all went back to Juli's mom's house to stay up all night to read. Don't worry, I know I'm that cool!;) I finished the book at 3:30 AM Monday morning. Therefore, I didn't do much else this weekend. In my opinion, my time was well spent, because the book was GREAT!!! I don't want to spoil it for any one who hasn't read it, but I will say that I'm incredibly happy with the direction the story went. If you like to read and need an entertaining book, you should read the Twilight series!
