I recently finished reading The Peacegiver by James L. Ferrell. This book was on my Christmas list and Nick, who had my name, gave it to me - thanks again, Nick (and Lindi). Since I have been out of school, (hard to believe it's already been nearly three years) I have started to enjoy reading again. In an effort to gain more understanding, appreciation, and love for Jesus Christ and His atonement, I read this book and plan to continue to read others in addition to the scriptures. The Peacegiver was a fairly easy read. It's a fictional story about a regular guy, Rick, who is struggling in life and especially in his marriage. With the guidance of his Grandfather, Rick, gains a better understanding of the Savior's atonement and applies it to his life and marriage. The story refers to several scriptural accounts and passages. Like any good book, this story made me think differently and provided new perspectives. I will defiantly read The Peacegiver again, but during the second read, I plan to take notes and read all of the scriptural references - more like a study than a simple read through. I need to make a better effort to really study the gospel. In short, The Peacegiver is worth reading.
