Mason Jar Tiered Tray

Wednesday, March 23, 2011

I recently took on a "MacGyver: Mason Jar" challenge for our Relief Society Birthday Party Dinner. We were instructed to use simple mason jars to create ingenious centerpieces. I was inspired and ran with my idea. As you can see, I used black and white to keep it neutral in hopes of using it in the future. I got the cool plates from Target. I used a cookie cutter as a fun topper. The jars are filled with large lima beans and black licorice bits. Bob even helped complete the project, securing the pieces with epoxy. For the dinner, I filled the trays with yummy chocolate candy wrapped in bright spring colors. I received a lot of very nice compliments. I'm glad it came together so well. It was fun to work on a neat, creative project.

17 Months

Wednesday, March 16, 2011

It's time for the monthly Addie up-date. Two days ago, on the 14th, Addie turned 17 months old. Our little girl is a talker. Her vocab is quite extensive at this point. Addie says new words almost daily. Even when I think she doesn't understand or isn't listening, she uses the new words it seems like only a few days later. Addie has a Sesame Street Kids' Favorite Songs DVD (a Valentine's gift from Grandma and Grandpa Weber). She has fallen in love with Elmo and "Elmo's Song". It's pretty darn cute when she starts singing, "la, la, la, song". We made a short visit to Lovell at the end of February. Addie had a wonderful time being the center of attention. She got to see cows up close and even petted a newborn calf. She loved it – no fear (not yet anyway). With the recent spring weather in combination with Addie's solid ability to walk and even run, she has discovered "outside". We anticipate a fun summer :). Addie had a nursery preview last Sunday which went very well. I think she will do well in nursery. Addie's parents are ready for her to do well anyway. Addie is doing great! We sure love our little girl!

Fairwell Nissan

Tuesday, March 8, 2011

While we were out of town, the Nissan fell victim to a smashing end. The combination of slick streets and a darting neighborhood cat resulted in a head-on collision with our parked Nissan. There were no injuries from the crash with the exception of our poor little pick-up, of course. Many may recall that Bob has been driving the Nissan since his high school days. Bob's Dad, Duane, actually bought the Nissan brand new in 1992, so its been with the Weber's for nearly 20 years. I suppose that all good things must come to an end. We are working with the insurance company on the conclusion of the Nissan's existence. Things are moving slowly which has been frustrating, but we're fairly hopeful in the outcome (financially speaking). The Nissan has been a great little truck for us!
