Random Picture Tag

Tuesday, September 30, 2008

Yes, I'm actually playing along. Here are my results of the random picture tag. I won't bother to tag anyone else, because practically every one I know has already been tagged. Don't get me wrong. I think that it's a fun game to see random, silly pictures that otherwise might never be posted. In the picture below Bob (not seen), John Boy, and I are removing the old shaker shingles from the barn in front of my parents' house. In the summer of 2007, Bob and I (mostly Bob) helped remove the old roofing on several buildings around my parents' house. Definitely good times!;)

My Sisters' Visit

Tuesday, September 23, 2008

This past weekend both of my sisters came to visit! It's true that we all went to the BYU vs. Wyoming football game, but that was just a convenient excuse to get together. Actually, we met with some other family members at the game. Lindi's in-laws, Jerry and Terri Anderson and Lindi's brother in-law, Tyler met Nick and Lindi ,and Bob and I met with JC and Carsyn, Bob's brother and nephew.

Our visitors arrived on Friday night. Funny story - Katie, my youngest sister, took a wrong turn and ended up in Evanston. It's a good thing that she was able to laugh at herself, because it was dang funny! We've all taken wrong turns (me included);). The weekend was full of excitement including eating out at Firehouse, T.G.I. Fridays, the BYU vs. Wyoming football game, the movie, Wall-E, and of course, tons of laughing out loud. I'm so glad that both of my sisters made the effort to come. It's so good to spend time with them, especially now that we are getting older. Thanks for coming Lindi and Katie! I love you! Also, a big thanks to Bob and Nick for putting up with us three girls.

A Little Bit Shorter

Sunday, September 14, 2008

This past spring I took a chance and decided to cut my hair short. I was a little nervous due to a traumatic short hair experience I had in high school (sadly, some of you may remember). However, I think that this time around my short hair looks alright. On Friday, I had a hair appointment and decided to try going a little bit shorter. Here are the results:

Ta dah! Isn't it just splendid? Just sharing something new and different to break up the day to day hum drum which is life. A new hair cut definitely falls within the parameters of exciting, worthwhile news, right?;)

I'm a Lucky Girl

Thursday, September 4, 2008

As you know, last month Bob and I celebrated our anniversary. Bob gave me a very special surprise gift for our anniversary. He purchased the present almost a month in advance and kept it hidden until the big reveal. There was no question that Bob was very anxious about giving me the much anticipated gift. I had few clues as to what the surprise present might be. I knew that Bob bought the gift at Al's Sporting Goods where he currently works in the hunting and fishing department. I also knew the amount which he spent. I racked my brain and finally decided to just be completely surprised and I was! Bob gave me a Little Henry lever-action .22 rifle for our anniversary. I must be honest that I was completely and utterly shocked when I opened my new gun. I never expected that Bob would buy me a gun. After I got over the initial shock, I was very happy with my present. Bob loves to go shooting and bought me my own special gun so I can join him - how thoughtful. My rifle is actually a youth size rifle which works better for me, because I'm a small person. As I was opening my gun, Bob took play by play pictures to capture my sheer surprise. (I'm sporting my PJ's - Go Bulldogs!)

Lining Up My Sights on My New Gun!

We've taken my gun out shooting and I did alright. I was able to at least hit the 12 inch target from 35 yards. For my birthday, Bob gave me a nice padded case for my gun along with some other gifts. I must say that I'm a lucky girl to have such a wonderful husband that wants to include me in his interests. Thanks baby-cakes!
