3 Months

Wednesday, May 23, 2012

Rubie is actually just over 15 weeks, so she is closer to four months old at this point (oh well). Like other parents I too can now confirm from personal experience that each child is truly born with their own personality. Rubie is particular and even demanding at times. In contrast, Addie was a content, social baby who smiled a lot and rarely fussed.

Rubie has tummy troubles and has been on Zantac drops for about a month which seems to be helping with her discomfort and pain as well as her fussiness. She likes to be held facing out and walked around. Rubie hates her car seat and cries unless the car is moving or the car seat is being moved around. She loves to be on her tummy and takes her day time naps on her tummy. Rubie likes tub time, too. We usually bathe Rubie and Addie together. For about the past three weeks, Rubie has been going at least six hours between feedings during the night, and even better for about the last week she has gone eight to ten hours between feedings and sleeping about six hours. It is awesome to get six hours of sleep in a row! Rubie gives the best smiles right after being fed or when changing her diaper. About three weeks ago, Rubie had a nasty virus which caused a horrible rash from head to toe. The rash caused her a lot of pain and she screamed when we picked her up. Rubie's eyes were also red and swollen. As the rash healed, her skin peeled like a sunburn. Her feet are now peeling which are the last thing left to peel. I felt bad for our sick little girl. But she's much better now. It feels good to have the first three months under our belt. We're very excited for summer and the fun it will bring for our family, and the new adventures it will bring for Rubie.

Birth Announcement

Saturday, May 19, 2012

This is Rubie's unofficial official birth announcement. With the surprise of her birth, I was already behind on preparations, so her birth announcement got put last on the list. However, I wanted something to "put in the scrapbook". So here is my effort now that our Rubie is 14 weeks old. I know it's kind of pathetic that is has taken me 14 weeks to get back on schedule. I'll just say I'm not good with surprises - they're difficult for a planner ;). None the less, we love our Rubie baby!

Mothers' Day

Thursday, May 17, 2012

We had a very special Mothers' Day as my sisters and I are new Moms, plus we had all the grandkids at Grandma and Pa's for the first time all together. We gathered together at Grandma and Pa's for a delicious breakfast for dinner. We had pancakes, hashbrowns, sausage, bacon, fried eggs, fruit, and sparkling orange lemonade. My creative Mother had the table set beautifully, too (sorry, no pictures). We gave our Mom our annual donation to her flower fund and notes from each of us girls. Our gatherings are now a little more chaotic with the noise and needs of three babies and a toddler. I think it will only get crazier in the years to come. It was truly great to be with my Mom and sisters and our children on Mothers' Day (it was also nice to have my Dad, husband, and brothers-in-law there, too). I am deeply grateful for a supportive and exemplary Mother and a loving family. While being a Mom is really hard work, I thank my Heavenly Father every day for sending us Addie and Rubie.
