Primary Puzzles

I have the good fortune to be the Primary President in our ward. I was called as the 2nd Counselor in Primary in December 2007 and then as the President in June 2008. I love Primary! Our Primary is super small - only 9 kids. We had our first activity of the year this past Saturday. The 2009 theme for Primary is "My Eternal Family". My Counselors and I had a fun idea to make puzzles for each of the kids using their family photos. The idea was definitely better in theory than in reality. It took us, five adults, three hours to make 11 puzzles! I know, ridiculous! We wanted the puzzles to have curved edges like the first photo below. But is took way too long to cut through the foam board. Therefore, we went to plan B - we cut only straight edges. Needless to say, we were frustrated by the end. It was all worth it, because the kids loved them!!! They were so excited to see their family photos. We let the kids color the boxes for their puzzles. It was a fun activity.

Crafty Bob

This past Friday, February 6th, Bob accomplished one of his lifetime goals. Bob completed his own jean quilt! Bob has wanted a jean quilt for years. He started saving his old jeans about three years ago, making slow progress toward his quilt. Since graduation, Bob has had more free time and making a jean quilt became a priority. Bob did all the work - cut out all 200 patches, sewed the patches together, ironed the seams, picked out the flannel, sewed the flannel, tied the quilt (with much appreciated help from Mike), and did the binding. I only helped with a few things along the way. We want to thank Uncle Mike and Aunt Juli for letting us use their sewing machine and helping tie the quilt. Good work, Bob. Your quilt is awesome! I'm proud of you - your determination and creativeness!

Bob's quilt is about 7x7 feet and super warm. I'm impressed. Aren't you!
