Thankful, 29th, and 14 Months

Wednesday, December 15, 2010

'Tis the season and we have been busy over the past three weeks celebrating Thanksgiving at Grandma and Grandpa Bassett's, marking Bob's 29th birthday, and another month in Addie's little life.

Just yesterday Addie was officially 14 months old, and she is a girl on the move. She makes me and Bob tired. We can hardly take our eyes off her, because she's into everything. Good times! Addie's vocabulary is growing. Like many toddlers, Bob and I are the only people who actually understand what she's saying most of the time. With that being said, Addie's "vocab" includes: hi, bye, baby, dog, kitty, bottle, banana, cracker, cheese, cookie, coat, shoe, gone, please, patty-cake, stinky, and Jesus. Sadly, she still isn't really saying mom or dad consistently enough to count. Addie has been having a few nightmares and waking at night - very upsetting for us all. Our friendly, happy baby girl likes attention and seems to usually get what she wants (attention that is from strangers and friends and family alike). Oh no, I think that we should be worried.

On December 4th, Bob turned 29 (almost 30, oh man!). We celebrated by leaving Addie with some friends and going out to dinner at a local steakhouse. After dinner, we enjoyed some card games and cheesecake with our friends. Bob also spent all his birthday money on a weekend shopping trip. I even managed to surprise Bob with a Dogger cap featuring his name "Coach Weber". We love Bob and are so very grateful for him and the wonderful husband and father he is.

We enjoyed a fantastic Thanksgiving at my parents' home. We partook in all our traditions - a delicious meal with appetizers and dessert, putting up Christmas lights (Bob put up all the lights all by himself), playing cards, and driving 40 mph from Billings to Lovell. Okay, driving 40 mph isn't a tradition but maybe a funny story (in a few years). We are truly grateful for good family and their love and support. We undoubtedly have so much to be thankful for.

Step by Step

Last night Addie just took off walking. She was walking all over the house. Of course, she would topple, but she would get right back up and go again. You may notice a goose egg on Addie's forehead over her right eye. One of the hazards of learning to walk - hard falls. It's weird to see my baby walking but also very exciting! Bob and I are in trouble now! Yay for Addie!

13 Months

Monday, November 15, 2010

Another month has come and gone in the life of our little Addie. I still feel the need to record Addie's monthly developments, as she is learning and changing so fast. It's hard for me to believe that it has already been a month since Addie's 1st birthday party. Crazy! Anyhow, Addie is learning new words and sounds. She says "hi", "bye", and "uh-oh" and makes dog and cow sounds. She also recognizes cats and usually waves and says "hi" to our neighborhood cats. Addie also says "ba" for both banana and bottle. She tries to copy other words like shoes, cracker, and cheese. On top of that, Addie babbles all kinds of gibberish. Her favorite song right now is "Itsy Bitsy Spider". She can do all the actions and usually laughs when the spider gets washed out. Addie is very friendly and likes to say "hi" to people we pass in the store and puts her arms out to familiar faces at church. Addie is making more and more progress toward full out walking. She can take about six or so steps before she topples. At this point, church, of course, is a struggle. By the last hour, Addie is tired and sick of sitting. Nursery is only 5 months away, right. We recently put a forward-facing carseat in, and Addie thinks it's wonderful. During the first few drives, Addie said "hi" to me about a million times, because she could see me. It was cute! At Addie's 12 month check up on the 29th of October, she measured about 29 inches and weighed 21 lbs which put her roughly in the 75th percentile for height and the 50th percentile for weight. Below are pictures of Addie in all her new outfits.

Halloween

Monday, November 1, 2010

We had a fantastic Halloween! Our festivities began with a "Boo Gram" from a secret friend. At first I assumed it was someone from our neighborhood, as the gram suggested, but I later found out that it was a wonderful friend from the ward. I happily passed it along to two neighbors. I took the opportunity to get creative and scrapped the gift bags. I think that "Boo Grams" are a fun Halloween activity and hope to "Boo" more of our friends and neighbors next year.

"Boo" Bags
Thursday evening we went to the Riverside Zoo's Spooktacular in Scottsbluff. The Spooktacular is an annual fundraiser for the zoo. Hundreds of jack-o-lanterns were on display along the zoo's pathways. Addie seemed to enjoy watching all the kids in costume.

Spooktacular
Friday evening we took Addie to Torrington's downtown Trick or Treat. It was packed! After about three blocks, Bob and I called it, and we went to dinner. Very soon we will have to fight the crowds, as Addie will be more involved and insistent on getting candy. Addie did look cute in her dinosaur costume, but what made it even cuter was that Addie would growl and roar when asked, "What does a dinosaur say?"! Bob had been coaching her for the last month.

"Roar!"

Also on Friday, Addie got a fun treat in the mail from Grandma and Grandpa Weber. Thanks again for the surprise.
Happy Halloween from Grandma & Grandpa Weber
On Saturday, we went to our ward's Chili Dinner and Trunk or Treat. Bob spent the afternoon carving a second pumpkin, because he was extremely disappointed with how his first pumpkin turned out and wanted a better pumpkin for our trunk. The ward party had a great turnout and was a lot of fun. We'll have to step our game up next year and decorate our trunk more, because there were some really neat trunks. Addie got a chance to actually Trunk or Treat and even roared for some people.

Trunk or Treat
On Halloween evening we had about 60 Trick or Treaters come to our door. A lot of the neighborhood kids know Bob from school and came to our door asking for Mr. Weber. Addie got excited each time the doorbell rang and started crawling to the door to see the kids. We had a much different Halloween than compared to last year, when Addie was only about two weeks old. It's hard to believe all the changes we have gone through since then and it's exciting to think of what is all still yet to come.

1 Year

Monday, October 18, 2010

Addie turned 1 year old on October 14th! (I know, I know this post is four days late - we've been busy having fun!) We've had an eventful past week. Bob had to go to North Carolina for a teachers' conference for five days, so my sisters, Lindi and Katie, came and stayed with Addie and me. We had a blast! We also worked really hard, finishing the interior paint job on our house. That's right - we have finally finished painting, and we're very happy with the finished product. I couldn't have finished painting without help from my sisters, thanks again! Bob came home late Wednesday night, just in time for Addie's birthday. My Mom and Dad joined us Thursday night. We had an awesome weekend together, celebrating Addie's birthday and enjoying being together. We did miss Nick and Richard. A special thank you for letting your wives be gone for so long. We had a birthday party for Addie on Saturday, with friends from our ward. I love birthdays and hope to be able to always have fun parties for my children. I think that Addie's 1st birthday party was wonderful! I truly appreciate the love and support our families show us and all their efforts on our behalf. Addie really got spoiled with all the gifts from both sets of grandparents. Addie is going to be one styling kiddo!

On Saturday evening, after the party, we went out pumpkin hunting. We had a good time getting out and enjoying the fall air and activities. We found some great pumpkins for Bob to perform his carving magic on.

Our Little Family
We had a farm themed party for Addie. Which, of course, I thought was adorable. My super talented and creative sister, Lindi, made cute, little favor boxes and an amazing birthday banner for the party. My Mom and sisters helped me set everything up. My friend, Annie, made a fantastic cake. We were totally impressed! It seemed that all the kids had fun and Addie did great with all the excitement.

At 12 months, Addie is doing so many things, constantly on the move. Her first word is "Bye, Bye" while she waves. She also just started to make barking noises when asked, "What does a dog say?". Addie can also now point to her eyes, ears, mouth, and nose. She's a total copy cat. Addie is getting close to walking. She is standing by herself for longer periods of time. She got a push toy for her birthday and caught on incredibly fast. She has six teeth, four on top and two on the bottom. Addie is now off formula which is wonderful for our pocket book! The next step is moving to only sippy cups (no bottles). Addie is a happy little girl. I can't believe that my baby is already crossing over into toddlerhood. We're excited to continue to watch her learn and grow. Happy 1st birthday, Addie! We love you!

1st Black Eye

Sunday, October 3, 2010

About two weeks ago, Addie earned her first black eye. She is just sooooo busy. I've quickly learned that I can't take my eyes off her, seriously. Well, I put a box of tissues on a folding tray which was too tempting for Addie. I walked around the corner into the kitchen and within seconds, Addie attempted to climb the tray to get her little hands on the tissues. The next thing I heard was a big CRASH and a screaming baby. I know it's real when there are tears. I was both sad and surprised to see the black eye the next morning. We got a few comments in the grocery store, too. Oh, what fun!

11 Months

Tuesday, September 14, 2010

Addie is 11 months old today. During the past month, we have been busy getting back into our regular routine as Bob is back to work and coaching. We did however, take the chance over Labor Day weekend to go visit my parents and Richard and Katie. It was a short trip, but we had a great time! Addie, of course, was spoiled by Grandma and Grandpa. I guess that's what grandparents do.

Addie is a busy little girl - only stopping to eat and sleep. She has discovered many new things around the house. She loves to open drawers and pull everything out. She would rather play with anything but her toys. For example, Lindi sent me a birthday gift, and Addie played with the ribbon for hours. Some new developments include: giving big, slobbery, open-mouth baby kisses (I can't get enough of them), giving hugs, blowing kisses, pointing to herself in the mirror and in pictures and then pointing back to herself, constantly cruising, and making growling noises. Addie also really enjoyed a good ol' Lingle-Ft. Laramie football game last Friday night. She sat on my lap and wildly flapped her little arms and swayed back and forth to the music and clapped along with the crowd. I was not as excited, as the weather quickly cooled off and the score was 48 to 0 (Lingle-Ft. Laramie winning) at the end of the 1st quarter. Yeah, we left. Addie brings so much joy and love into our lives. We are happily anticipating her 1st birthday!
